Several AWSM members have won awards in the 2014 Associated Press Sports Editors contest.
Contest results were announced the week of Feb. 9 from Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Eight AWSM members, including three individual winners, finished in the Top 10 in categories:
Rachel Lenzi from The Blade (Toledo, Ohio): Explanatory – 75,000 to 175,000
Amy Moritz from the Buffalo News: Projects – 75,000 to 175,000
Linda Robertson from the Miami Herald: Explanatory – more than 175,000
Christine Brennan was part of a USA Today team that finished top 10 in Projects – more than 175,000.
Jenni Carlson teamed with Berry Tramel from the Oklahoman to finish top 10 in Projects – 75,000 to 175,000 category.
Carolina Gazzara was a part of a Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News team that finished top 9 in Multimedia – under 30,000 circulation; less than 250,000 unique monthly visitors.
Michelle Kaufman was part of a Miami Herald team that finished top 10 in Projects – more than 175,000.
Amy Shipley was part of a South Florida Sun-Sentinel team that finished top 10 in Investigative – all categories.
