We’re recruiting for our teams!
AWSM is looking members to help us as we continue to grow and advocate for women in all areas of sports media. Don’t worry about experience! The only requirement is energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to help out. Whatever your talents, time and interest, we have a spot on one of our teams for you!
Interested in getting involved? Email Amy Moritz at firstname.lastname@example.org or Jenni Carlson at email@example.com for details.
Like to plan events and gatherings? Have a skill for coordinating people and workshops? The 2012 convention will be the 25th anniversary of AWSM and we’re looking to put together a great program. We need people for this team to help with planning meals and fun outings to coordinating speakers and panels.
While our strength lies in our membership, in order to continue our programs, including our signature internships/scholarship program, and to grow other career training opportunities, AWSM needs financial help. We need people to help coordinate aspects fundraising drives both among our membership and in the general community.
Have a talent for grant writing or making the big pitch? To help sustain our efforts long-term, AWSM needs members of the development team to solicit larger gift donations and apply for grants.
AWSM wants to make the experience meaningful for its members and our outreach team does just that. We need people to help with tasks from welcoming new members and soliciting feedback to getting the word out about AWSM to professionals and students. We also need people to help plan regional get-togethers so AWSM members can socialize and support each other in their local communities.
AWSM’s web presence has grown dramatically over the last year, creating résumé-building opportunities for student and professional members alike. AWSM is looking for contributors interested in producing content for AWSM’s website on a monthly basis. Beats can include, but are not be limited to, member news and notes (our version of an AWSM water cooler), trends in media today, balancing life and career or best practices. Columnists willing to share their opinions are welcome. Content targeting specific fields — print, television or online journalism, sports information, public relations, and education — also would be considered. The team also has an opening for a tech-saavy, WordPress-minded individual who would like to grow the site from the backend.
In helping the next generation of sports media professionals, AWSM coordinates an internship and scholarship program. This team can use assistance in judging applications and recruiting employers.
