Applications are now being accepted for the Association for Women in Sports Media Student Chapter program for the Fall 2014 semester. The deadline to apply is Sept. 12.
Up to five new chapters that meet the necessary requirements officially will be recognized by AWSM each semester.
Schools interested in starting a student chapter must submit the following materials found here to student chapter coordinator Kelli Grashel (email@example.com) and VP/Student Development Gina Mizell (firstname.lastname@example.org).
AWSM’s student chapter program launched during the 2011-12 school year and now features groups at Arizona State, Boston University, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Penn State, and UCLA.
These chapters are stakeholders, with members actively taking part in the national organization. Student leaders, faculty advisers and professional mentors at each school team up to provide individual programming, with guidance and support from the national organization. AWSM awards an annual Student Chapter of the Year, with Oklahoma State taking the honor in 2013 and Michigan in 2014.
