Drifting clouds, towering pinnacles, and sheer canyon walls create a magical setting for the red rock country of Sedona. In sharp contrast to the bright blue sky, monoliths of vivid red sandstone rise as if cast adrift from the Mogollon Rim. Oak Creek Canyon, with its dramatic red rock ridges etched over millions of years by wind and seas, slices dramatically through the scene.
On Sunday, June 23, a group of AWSM attendees are invited to board a comfortable touring vehicle at the Montelucia Resort & Spa for a relaxing journey to Sedona. Welcoming guests aboard will be a professional tour guide, a knowledgeable and friendly local who will make the ride to Sedona interesting from start to finish. As the town approaches, the group will make a stop at some of the best photo spots, from Chapel of the Holy Cross to Bell Rock.
Upon arrival in Sedona, the group will have free time for touring and lunch in town. Uptown Sedona features a wide variety of shops, many with products made by local artists, as well as unique cafes. Tlaquepaque, which lies in the valley of Sedona at the mouth of Oak Creek, is named after a village outside Guadalajara, Mexico, and boasts the fine craftsmanship of local artisans, along with beautiful and unusual gifts from around the world. Guests may take some time to stroll along the tiled walkways among arched doorways, or unwind near one of many gracious fountains and admire the colorful flowers that decorate this village and give it such a distinct Mexican flavor.
Guests will reconvene for their jeep excursion in the red rocks. Eyes open wide on this fun-filled adventure that leads you on and over the red rocks. You’ll be awestruck by the natural splendor and thrilled as your guide expertly navigates you down “The Road of No Return.” Simply put: the best jeep tour in the Southwest!
Upon disembarking the jeep, guests will be picked up by the vehicle for the return transfer to the Montelucia.
Duration: 8-9 hours, approximate 8 a.m. departure / 5 p.m. return on Sunday, June 23.
Cost: $375 + tax/per person (minimum signup of 10 required) — includes transportation, guide and jeep tour.
