AWSM has selected Arizona for its 2018 summer convention – set for June 21-24 at the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale.
A 27-acre property, the Hyatt features five dining options, championship golf, tennis courts, jogging/cycling trails, Spa Avania and a 2.5 acre “water playground” – which includes 10 swimming pools, a three-story waterslide, sand beach and beachside putting green. The property is located approximately 20 minutes from Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport.
Convention attendees will be offered a rate of $149/night for singles/doubles, which includes a welcome beverage, complimentary internet, access to Spa Avania’s fitness center, use of the Gainey Ranch Golf Club chipping/putting facilities, tennis courts, bicycles, nightly entertainment and a shuttle with stops at Fashion Square Mall and Old Town Scottsdale. The resort fee is waived for AWSM attendees and the room rate is good three days before and after the convention, based on availability.
The Phoenix area was selected ahead of Los Angeles and San Diego – primarily in the name of providing both attendees and the organization a more affordable experience. AWSM expects to return east for its 2019 summer meeting.
AWSM last met in the Phoenix area in 2013 and had the highest attendance in the group’s history. If you are interested in assisting with the Arizona meeting – contact AWSM board chair Lydia Craver (firstname.lastname@example.org) or president Jenny Dial Creech (email@example.com).
The 2017 convention will be held at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort & Spa on May 7-10 in the Austin, Texas, area. Early registration will open in mid-January.
