The AWSM@Missouri Chapter spoke to U.S. Figure Skating’s Barbara Reichert at our October meeting, which proved to be one full of laughs, great advice and even a few technical difficulties.
“If you are not loving it, think of doing something else. Life is short… You have to have passion,” Reichert said.
After a very eventful semester at the University of Missouri, we did have to switch around a few events. The chapter was very excited to host Andrea Dorch, owner and agent for HAAG Sports Agency in Kansas City, but a family emergency on her end and with the protests happening on ours, the meeting was postponed. Fortunately, Andrea has agreed to come back and visit us in the spring, and we can’t wait!
We also had a meeting to discuss the 2016 national convention, elections and more. That included a very candid conversation about exactly what AWSM is all about: being women in the sports industry. Our members got to bounce ideas off each other, discuss their worries and fears and get to know each other on a deeper level. We even had our professional mentor, Cynthia Faulkner, in attendance! Cynthia was a wonderful addition to the conversation and had a lot of great tips we can use going forward.
