AWSM@OSU hosted its second guest speaker of the semester, OSU Athletics’ social media coordinator Kellie Reeves. She shared some valuable insight and discussed her plans for the future of athletics’ social media, including student interns.
Reeves touched on the influence of new platforms, such as Snapchat, teams’ social media efforts and various advantages to different platforms, and the importance of social media in conveying a team’s brand to the public. She said her favorite thing about Stillwater so far is the deep university tradition and alumni support.
“The first time we scored a touchdown, everyone started waving, and we sang like four different songs,” Reeves said. “It was crazy. There’s so much tradition here.”
AWSM@OSU members also had a chance to tour ESPN SportsCenter‘s “On the Road” bus when it rolled into town for the Cowboys’ top-15 matchup against TCU. Sara Walsh and Matt Barrie met with students to speak about the industry before giving them an inside look at the production truck.
