AWSM staff report
The Association for Women in Sports Media would like to welcome three new sponsors to its lineup for AWSM’s 2014 convention: The International Softball Federation, Dow Jones & Company and Rachel Bachman.
The 2014 convention will take place in Orlando, Fla., from May 22-25 at the Rosen Shingle Creek.
The International Softball Federation joins AWSM’s sponsor list at the friends of AWSM level.
ISF “strongly supports the progress and gains that women are making in communications and media representation,” said Don Porter, retired ISF president and current co-president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation.
The ISF also sponsored AWSM’s 2008 convention in Miami, and attended AWSM’s 2009 convention in Philadelphia to talk about its fight to get baseball and softball back into the Olympics.
That fight is still ongoing, and Porter said the World Baseball Softball Confederation’s movement to regain Olympic status for baseball and softball is picking up strong support from the Tokyo 2020 organizers and International Olympic Committee members.
Dow Jones & Company, and Wall Street Journal reporter Rachel Bachman have also joined AWSM’s list of convention sponsors at the friends of AWSM level.
AWSM extends sincere thanks to Porter, ISF, Bachman and Dow Jones & Company.
AWSM’s sponsor list also includes ESPN, the NFL, MLB Advanced Media, the New York Times Company, The Associated Press, USA Today Sports, the Orlando Magic, the NCAA and U-T San Diego.
