AWSM is pleased to announce Shawanda Walker of NBC Universal as our May Career Focus: Q & A guest.
Walker is a sports associate recruiter and will join vice president of professional development Kelly Burke for a one-hour, online chat on Cover It Live on Wednesday, May 18th at 4 pm ET. Walker is currently a sports associate recruiter for NBC Universal Talent Acquisition, based in New York City. She graduated with a B.A. in psychology from the University of Southern California in 2009. Upon graduation, she relocated to New York and began working for NBC Sports Production. From 2009 to 2015, she was a Production Associate and became an Associate Producer, working on live remote and studio shows including Football Night In America, horse racing’s Triple Crown, the French Open and Wimbledon.
She has worked on four Olympic Games – Beijing in 2008, Vancouver in 2010, London in 2012 and Sochi in 2014 – and received a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Event Turnaround as part of the production team for the 2012 London Olympics Primetime Show.
Prior to her current role, Shawanda was a campus recruiter, recruiting for the 2016 Rio Olympics Internship Program.
