ESPN’s Cari Champion and Jemele Hill join the speaker lineup for the Association for Women in Sports Media’s upcoming conference, set for May 7-10 at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort & Spa – just outside, Austin, Texas.
Champion and Hill will be featured in the morning general session on Tuesday, May 9.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Cari and Jemele to our Texas event,” AWSM president Jenny Dial Creech said. “Both women are great additions for our 30th anniversary conference, which showcases three decades of women in sports media making strides.”
Champion is an anchor on ESPN’s SportsCenter Coast-to-Coast. She was named a SportsCenter anchor in July, 2015, after previously serving as host of ESPN2’s First Take debate show. Before joining ESPN, Champion was an anchor and courtside reporter at the Tennis Channel. Her other stops include WGCL-TV (Atlanta), WPTV-TV (West Palm Beach, Fla.), Orange County Newschannel (Santa Ana, Calif.) and Starz.
In February, Hill was named co-host, with Michael Smith, of the SC6 version of SportsCenter. She previously co-hosted ESPN2’s His and Hers with Smith and wrote for ESPN.com. She has appeared on numerous ESPN shows ranging from Outside the Lines to Around the Horn. Before joining ESPN, Hill worked at the Orlando Sentinel, Detroit Free Press and Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer.
ESPN, a platinum-level sponsor for #AWSM2017, is a longtime supporter of the organization and has more AWSM members than any sports media outlet.
