What does AWSM mean to you?
DelGallo: AWSM means belonging, support, encouragement, camaraderie and mentorship. It’s having someone in your corner to challenge you, listen and help you grow. During my six years of membership with AWSM, I’ve met CEOs, authors, seasoned editors, student journalists and nearly every position in between. Each of them helped shape my career and understanding of the sports media landscape by sharing their time, stories and advice.
In its focus to assist the personal growth and career development of all women in sports media, AWSM continues to combat inequality and nurture diversity of thought and leadership to help the industry evolve and thrive.
What do you hope to bring to the fundraising role and/or what are your goals for AWSM?
DelGallo: As VP of Fundraising, my main goal will be to maintain stability during an unstable time. Many of our members are facing hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic as their companies cut costs and shift priorities. The right partnerships will allow AWSM to provide resources, assistance and education for members to become the leaders and innovators needed as sports leagues and media organizations rapidly transform.
