The votes have been counted and Stef Loh has been elected president of the Association for Women in Sports Media. Her two-year term will begin at this year’s annual convention, which will be held June 20-23 in Chicago. (You’re registered for that right? You don’t want to miss it!)the joint AWSM-APSE convention in Chicago will be held in tandem with APSE and its members, there will be a special AWSM-only event — a chance for AWSM members to gather on their own in Chicago.
Loh, a sportswriter at The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pa., has been a member of the AWSM Board as VP/Digital.
“I’d like to raise the profile of AWSM as a national professional organization for women in sports media, and to redouble our efforts to extend our reach downward into the colleges as well,” Loh said. “It’s important that we continue to serve as a resource for generations of women to come, and the best way to do that is to make our presence known at the college level, as women are just getting into the profession. The media industry has changed over the last few years, and we have to change with the times in order to continue our success.
“I’d like to get people involved in outreach and in programming for our members. If you’re interested in helping to develop one of our college chapters or to join in and be part of a membership drive, then we want your help!”
