AWSM welcomes Major League Soccer and the Associated Press to its sponsor lineup for this summer’s conference at the Montelucia Resort and Spa in Arizona.
MLS – which was previously a sponsor in Chicago (2012) – joins the NBA, USA Today Sports and Viacom Media Networks’ Spike TV as a silver-tier sponsor.
Marisabel Muñoz, senior director of international communications for MLS and Soccer United Marketing, also will join a panel discussion on improving relations between journalists and media relations professionals. Moderated by AWSM founder Michelle Himmelberg, who works in public relations with Disneyland, the panel includes Munoz, Gina Chappin (Rose Bowl), Mark Dalton (Arizona Cardinals), Rich Nairn (Phoenix Coyotes) and Doug Tammaro (Arizona State).
The Associated Press was last an AWSM sponsor for the Los Angeles (2010) meeting.
ESPN is the top (platinum level) sponsor for AWSM in Arizona while the NFL and Fiesta Bowl are gold-level sponsors. Bronze-level sponsors are the McClatchy Company and MLB Advanced Media. Additional sponsors are Los Angeles Newspaper Group, The Sporting News, U-T San Diego, The Miami Herald, Hartford Courant, Buffalo News and MTM Recognition.
