It should come as no surprise in our field that consumers and reporters of media are flocking to more and more forms of social media, and the Association for Women in Sports Media is making great strides to serve its members through a plethora of those channels.
In the past six months, efforts to disseminate information to AWSM’s ever-growing membership has increased by leaps and bounds. We’re tweeting out internship news and re-tweeting members’ own tweets. We’re posting job opportunities and student chapter updates on Facebook. We’re participating in important discussions on our LinkedIn group. And don’t forget, we’re updating our own website with breaking news, including the big reveal of our first “Student Chapter of the Year Award.”
So what’s the point of letting you, our AWSM membership, know where we are and what we’re doing on all these various social media platforms?
It’s simple. We want you to be involved first-hand in what we’re doing as an organization. Talk with us. Give us feedback. Reply with questions. Tweet us answers. Send us your photos. Post your videos of AWSM events.
AWSM supports the advancement and growth of women in sports media, and we can only do that if we’re all participating in the conversation.
Here are a few examples:
Are you planning to attend AWSM’s national convention, June 20-23, in Phoenix? If so, be sure to RSVP to our Facebook event.
Are you an active AWSM member who is on Twitter? Let us know by tweeting at us, and we’ll add you to our 2013 AWSM Twitter list.
