Scholarships & internships
AWSM established an internship/scholarship program in 1990 for female college students interested in sports media careers. We have placed more than 100 students in internships with employers such as Sports Illustrated, ESPN, MLB.com, USA Track & Field, the Minnesota Vikings and some of the nation’s most respected newspapers. We invite all students to become members, in order to take advantage of our networking and mentoring opportunities.
Additional benefits
In addition to the opportunity to network with other professionals, AWSM members have access to an online membership directory (membership required to access), quarterly digital newsletters and other support as needed.
Whether you’re a student or a professional, a woman or a man, interested in seeking our help or in helping us make sports media an option open to anyone who wants a rewarding career, we invite you to join us.

Founded in 1987, the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) is a worldwide organization of more than 600 women and men (professional and student) employed in sports writing, editing, broadcast and production, PR and sports information.
