AWSM has helped me connect with other awesome women in the business. It’s been a great resource, including when needing advice or just wanting to talk with other women, an opportunity that’s rare on the baseball beat with the lack of women covering the sport. The annual convention is always a highlight of my year.

I grew up a fan of most of the Chicago sports teams (Cubs, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks) and I still root for my alma mater, the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.
The Olympics as well as any postseason finals, particularly the World Series and the Stanley Cup Final.
Covering a World Series was on the top of my list, which I got to check off this past year when I covered the Cubs-Indians games at Wrigley Field. Still on my list to cover and experience: The Olympics and the Super Bowl.
