I joined AWSM in 2012 while still a student at Occidental College. At the time I was completing an internship with the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks in the team’s communications department. Writing features for the team’s website, I knew I wanted to continue my career as a sports writer upon graduation. I joined AWSM in order to reach out to women sports writers to learn more about their path in the field and receive advice about how to best move forward in my career.
AWSM’s directory gave me access to contact information for many women writers I admire. I reached out to several of them for career advice. I hope the convention comes to L.A. at some point so I can attend!
I’m a full-time staff writer (sports) at the Orange County Register. I also freelance for espnW.com. My other bylines include SI.com, Bleacher Report, SLAM Magazine, SB Nation and Teen Vogue.

Basketball is my passion but I’ve been able to cover other exciting sports, like skateboarding. I recently covered Exposure Skate, the world’s top female skateboarding event, for espnW. Interviewing skaters as young as seven and as old as 40 and watching them competing on the same day and loving the same sport was inspiring. That’s been my favorite sporting event thus far.
STAPLES Center. I grew up going to Los Angeles Sparks games.
